The Roku Stick was slow right out of the box. And within 30 days, it stopped streaming...apparently a common hardware failure happening. We love our Roku 3, but won't keep the Stick.
I recently purchased a Roku TV and absolutely love how easy to use the Streaming Stick is. I love it so much that I've purchased a Roku Streaming stick for my bedroom TV as well. No buffering, plenty of channels and all around awesome.
I love this thing. I bought this, and the Amazon Fire box, and both are pretty darn cool. Only issue is that it doesn't turn off...you have to actually unplug it to turn off, which the Amazon Fire, you can just turn it to the home screen, and it shuts itself off. You might want to consider that for future models of the Roku. Otherwise, it is awesome and I love it.
We bought the Roku stick and an Amazon Prime membership for each other for Christmas and it is amazing! As baby boomers, technology sometimes leaves us frustrated, or at the very least confused, but the Roku was easy to install and is easy to use. Everything makes sense, and you don't need a teenager to help you figure it out!
I've got this for about one month. The device is pretty good for streaming contents from the Internet. We use it mostly for Netflix on a secondary TV. If you want to stream contents from the Internet, this is probably the best device out there. I didn't like that you need a credit card to activate it. Although you can later delete the card information, it is a nuisance, and I feel it as an unnecessary risk. I'd rather use my CC individually per service. But it will play pretty much anything that is on the net. Now, if you want to play contents from a local storage in your home, this device definitely falls short. It only plays very few formats, so either be prepare to transcode your collection or use some kind of transcoding DLNA server. Probably a WD TV would be a much better option if this is what you want to do (I do not own a WD TV, so I'm only going by what I read in other reviews). As far a video quality, it is overall very good, although I am getting super-saturated greens, which I have not been able to adjust (I have not dedicated too much time to this, I must admit).
This is the second roku we purchased, this one is easier to install than the wired roku with all the same features. Easily the best product I've found for the money!
