I bought one for myself one for my daughter. I love it but it does have a few glitches. For one, it stalls on startup. Seems to take a while to get rolling and then the buttons will not work at times as if its asleep and can take up to 10 minutes to wake up when this happens. I stopped a movie and exited out for about 30 minutes and then the remote would not respond when I went to start up again. It lay dead for a good 10 or more minutes before it finally began to work. This is an annoying problem that has happen multiple times. Changing batteries does not seem to help either. The other thing I don't like is that you don't get Redbox and cannot stream from that source. Aside from that it has enabled me to watch many series I wouldn't have been able to watch on my cable provider OD feature. It is annoying that for many channels you must already have cable and be a subscriber. Especially when the whole point of the ROKU for me was to get rid of cable or at least go down to basic cable. Finally it would be very nice if they would set up the ROKU to tune in your regular free/local channels like the major networks, NBC/CBS/ABC. Right now, in order to replace cable with the ROKU I would need a separate antenna for the local channels. At the end of the day, the ROKU is a good addition to having cable but it cannot replace cable because it lacks too many of the channels one would want even in a basic cable package and to tune in to many cable channels you must already be a subscriber through a cable network anyway.
I both this about a months ago and it has issues freezing, there's a lot of lag time and it sometimes just won't load so I have to unplug the stick and plug it back which isn't a big deal but when u have to do it every other day it's annoying
I got my Roku as a Christmas gift last month. The greatest gift ever. I am a 24/7 caretaker for my mother, And as a result am pretty much housebound. Now I a never bored. I never have to say there is nothing to watch. I love seeing shows I grew up loving.
I received my Roku stick over the holidays and it has given me so many more entertainment options than I had before I plugged this stick, which is slightly larger than a thumb drive, into my TV. There's something to be said for watching Netflx on my 52" widescreen, as opposed to my iPad! Highly recommend!
This Roku streaming stick saves room, works efficiently, and packs a lot of content. As they improve on this product line and give customers more content such as ability to view emails and or even control other parts of the house like heat/air condition, this thing will dominate. It is already making my PS3/Chromcast obsolete.
I bought the streaming stick for my wall mounted tv. Some of the apps work fine while others do not work well at all. Netflix is the main reason I bought the streaming stick and it doesn't work very well at all. It's slow to load and the sound doesn't work half the time. It plays the sound in slowmotion and the picture at regular speed.
I enjoy Roku video streamer. But dont like the Roku usb stick over heats and stops working. Saw for other user's you must unplug the power cordsaw it can cool down
