I originally brought the Roku because my cable bill increased more than what I wanted to pay. After using it, I got an offer from the cable co to reduce my bill back to where it was. I declined because I found more options with Roku than with cable. I am saving $90 a month so I have the option of renting movies and still saving money. There are 4 christian channels on cable and over 496 on Roku. Member for life.

Easy set up and lots of options

I bought the Roku as trial to get away from cable and satellite. This will be a three month trial. So far, so good. There are about 2 things I really miss from cable and/or satellite but I won't go back.

Great way to Stream!

I have a Roku 3 in my Tv room and decided to get the Roku Streaming Stick for my smaller TV. It works great! Now I can stream American Horror Story while my wife streams Downton Abby. Great way to stream at a great price!

Not only did we pay for the stick, but also a booster for our WiFi (which didn't have a problem before) to no avail.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought a Streaming Stick (and a Roku 3) for the family this Christmas. I put the Streaming Stick in the living room to replace the old game system we had been using for streaming, which had become unbearable to use (chopping video and loading issues, if the streaming apps would even both to load; most often we'd get errors that they couldn't load). I was a bit skeptical about the stick wondering, "Will this little bitty stick really provide a better viewing experience than the game system?" Well, the answer is an unequivocal "yes!" In addition to performing wonderfully, the fact that it's so small and takes up practically no space is another great benefit. I'm so happy I found this!
In addition to the experience of using the Streaming Stick, I have to say it is hands-down the easiest device I have ever set up. You just connect it to the HDMI port on your TV, connect the power (either to an outlet or a USB port on your TV using the included power cable options), sync up the remote, and download/set up your apps. I was watching movies in less than 15 minutes (just because I took a few extra minutes to poke around the user interface and look at the settings, etc.).
The only minor (very minor) gripe I have is the length of the stick. On the back of many TVs (mine for instance) there is a concave area between the center of the TV and the edges, which is where the A/V inputs are (it provides a space for the connectors and cables to run through if the TV is wall-mounted). On one of my TVs, this concave area is not wide enough to accommodate the stick's length. If I plug it into the TV's HDMI connectors, the other end of the stick actually goes beyond the concave area, which results in the stick resting in a slightly bent position (the stress being placed on the stick's HDMI connector, which isn't good). I found that my other TV had just barely enough clearance that the stick could fit (rather snuggly) inside the concave area. So my only suggestion would be if future versions could be made just a tad bit shorter (even if just a few millimeters). In the meantime, if someone is looking into getting one of these (and I certainly do recommend it), just be aware that the stick is about 3.1" long (including the male HDMI connector, I'm pretty sure). So just be sure the cable "canal" (if your TV is built like this) has enough clearance that you don't have to bend the stick to plug it into the HDMI inputs.
