Best investment I made!!!!

I bought the Roku Stick to go along with my new TV and it is the best decision I made! It is very easy to set up, although one caveat is the boot up time before the home screen shows up. Other than that, it's perfect for my needs!
I would recommend this to a friend!

As an electronic device it appears to be capable and reasonably fast.
However, Like you, I have read many reviews. Most people love Roku.
In as much as I have found no reason to dislike the device, I'm not in love with it.

If initial impressions mean something, I was hoping to be impressed by a vast assortment of free movie "channels". The stock Roku Stream stick has a very underwhelming assortment of fairly lame free movie channels. They seem to be the movies nobody wants to watch for good reasons. Many have said "users can hunt down available channels" somewhere on the internet, I am inclined to say " would it kill them to install a reasonable number of FREE decent movie channel choices on the stock installation ?" That's assuming these channels actually exist.
Not surprisingly, on the face of it, it seems like an excellent platform for "pay to view" options.
So if you don't mind working more overtime to pay for movies, this is for you.

Was given to me as a gift. I'm not a techie but I figured it out, so it's pretty dummy proof. Enjoying lots of movies and series!!!

Unbelievable Alternative to Cable!

I bought my Roku stick yesterday, have only signed up for Netflix so far and honestly, there is so much to watch and it is such an awesome piece of technology, I have finally said good-bye to cable (and cable BILLS) forever! I absolutely love the choice of channels, best thing to buy and watch in the winter when its cold and my best overall purchase for the year! I am so excited I bought this for my apartment and I'm up to speed with saving hundreds of dollars for quality, customized programming.
Only concern is the remote is glitchy and doesn't always work but there is an app that can turn your phone into a remote (so don't lose your phone.)
Also, there is a wait for help via live online chat, sometimes over an hour. Apart from that, PLEASE DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR and get one.

It works, no doubt. It could use so much improvement though, UI looks amateur, feels to buggy most of the time. Mirroring the screen is still beta but it is a cool feature.
This is a great device and it diserves 4 stars But not just yet.
