Within 3 days of buying my Roku, I bought a second one. Love it and everything about it! From the ease of setup, to the quick loading of content I could never do without my Roku.
I've had the device for several months. Was excited about all of the channels available for it. Unfortunately boot up time is fairly lengthy if you use the TV's onboard USB instead of plugging it into the wall. The remote is a nice touch, but it doesn't always respond, even with fresh batteries. I don't understand why since it doesn't use IR. Setup is cumbersome with the "typing" and having special characters in a password makes it worse.
Picked up a competitor's device recently and sadly for the Roku, the performance of the new device runs circles around the Roku.
I own 2 Google TVs (one Vizio co-star and one Sony TV with it built in.) I find that there are so many more available apps on the Roku, specifically NHL and ESPN...which I pay for these services. I wanted the flexibility when I travel since hotel room TV programming can be very hit or miss.
I have but one item on my wish list. I frequently take the Roku stick between two households, one has a broadcasted wifi network, while the other is private. The Roku remembers my passwords and SSID for the broadcasted network, but not the private one. Each time I take it to the other household, I have to type in the SSID and password. This can be cumbersome, especially since I know have to carry the remote with me to do so (the phone remote app only works when the device and phone are connected to the same network, so I can't use my phone to enter the info since it isn't on the network.) Seems minor, but it would be wonderful if a future update would allow for private SSID information to be retained.
Great product overall. As long as there is a strong wifi connection, I am golden :)
I can Stream JW Broadcasting... Control it with my phone... Stream from all these channels... Fault less.... The only thing i would want ROKU to perfect would be the Beta Mirroring from phones and from Computers and thats it... Everything else is great....
I had had the Roku 2 attached to my tv in the garage, I thought I would use the Roku stick for a more compact fit, the problem that I ran into was it has very low WIFI signal sensitivity and couldn't pickup and lock onto the WIFI signal, second I tried attaching it to my tv in the house and it is very slow to respond to remote inputs.
I bought the streaming stick not realizing that my flat screen in the living room does not have a USB port. Luckily, my bedroom TV does. This is not a fault of Roku, but of me. So be sure to check your TV before you pick the model to order. On the downside, I am disappointed with the movies available on Netflix, Amazon, etc. About all I watch are old BBC programs we never got in the statesl
