The ROKU system save me on paying for movies thru Red Box and Cable provider. It was easy and quick to install and pulling up movies is easy and quick also. Best gift I have received for my birthday. Would recommend it to other friends and family members.
I find it is hard to find things on this that are free. don't get me wrong. But I think it should come with more information on how to find and work things
I purchased this item for a older flat screen tv that doesn't have internet apps. Installation was fast and painless and I haven't had any issues since the inital installation. Great Product!!!
I love this thing! I've tried Android based streamers, and Chromecast and this thing runs circles around them. Clean, fast, quality streaming. Don't waste your money on anything else.
I bought the Streaming Stick a month ago and have watched more shows using it than network TV during that time. Installation couldn't be easier. I plugged it in. It found my wireless signal. After entering my wireless code and my Netflix account information we were streaming. We are very happy with the Roku Streaming Stick.
This is my second Roku device. My first was one of the older models, the Roku LT. That version worked flawlessly, rarely buffered, never froze. The Roku Streaming stick, well...
First there is a bit of misinformation about powering it. You do have to plug in a separate power cable, which is actually a USB adapter. I suppose the Roku developers thought there would be a spare USB port available on the newer smart TVs. But you won't see that made obvious in most of the packaging or even the advertising. However not needing HDMI cables is a plus, so even with the power cord, that's the only cord you are adding to the back of your entertainment center.
The biggest problem I have is it freezing. And it happens once or twice a week. Remote won't work, you can't back out, go forward - nothing. Curiously there is a small reset button on the device (something that doesn't exist on my old Roku) so at least it's as convenient as they could make it, but I suspect its presence represents Roku's knowledge that this would happen.
I never could get logged into my Picasa account, and I did double and triple check my password entry.
I hope the tech people at Roku will keep working on this, and perhaps a firmware upgrade will correct the freezing. For the overall convenience, sure I'd recommend Roku to a friend but I might not recommend the Stick as strongly.
