This was a Christmas gift, and it's one on the best gifts I have received. My home theater has Netflix, but on many of the multiple season TV series', for example the Star Treks, it only shows 10 episodes of each series. On my new Roku stick, I can binge watch all the Star Treks to my heart's content. I enjoy having Amazon Prime video too. The picture is excellent. Please negotiate a deal with Turner Classic Movies. My husband and I are glad to have the MLB channel. Best value for the money.
I got my ROKU stick as a Christmas present. I have heard of the ROKU, but never in the stick form. It couldn't be more simple. It has it ALL. At an affordable price with NO monthly bill, I get to choose what I want to watch, when I want to watch it. I have recommended this to friends every time I get a chance.
This is the IDEAL way to cut the cable. This is my second Roku. One for the bedroom and one for the living room. The first one was the older style that needed an external power supply but was great for my dinosaur TV that had no HDMI. Content availability is excellent. Instead of the GARBAGE on the major networks I can be selective and choose the content above the elementary school intelligence level. I use an Antenna for local TV to get the news and weather but even that is on ROKU. With the stick I can also take it on trips with me. Also neat that I can use my iPhone as the remote control.
I got the Roku stick because I wanted to access Amazon Prime movies. That is not offered on Apple TV. But 90% of our viewing is Netflix. What surprised me was that the download on the Roku stick was better than Apple TV. That is huge. On the downside, I got use to the UI and features on Apple TV that I have not found on Roku. Particularly having More Info available about Netflix movies. Like, seeing who the director is and then other movies on Netflix by that director. Makes me wonder what are the features of the Roku box. I have not researched that. That said, I definitely recommend Roku because streaming is the future. Cable is not and Roku should offer the widest variety of services.
A plethora of movie and tv choices. Easy to use. We now have two. Only thing I would add is a way to add Nascar and I would dump my satellite in a second!
