I bought the streaming stick about a month ago and turned off all other TV. I love being able to watch shows on my own time and love having music at my fingertips. There are plenty of free show options and the costs of the paid channels are extremely reasonable. The only negative I have encountered is the speed. When turning it on it takes a while to load and sometimes it takes a few minuets for the remote to work. Once I am in a channel there are no problems at all, but sometimes getting there takes some patience.
I bought my first Roko hoping to replace cable. Live local TV channels do not appear to be available so I did not get rid of cable but streaming does offer a nice alternate. I particularly like the ability to watch many PBS shows at any time. In addition, the first Roko I bought with composite video so I can use my analog TV without having to rent a cable box.
I liked ROKO enough that I bought a second stick version. It also performs well and obviously is more compact.
Have a small 30"tv in my bedroom that only has a digital antenna. Installed the Roku with a soundbar and have always something good on. Also have barely scracthed the surface of all the free stuff
I am thoroughly happy with the device when using my 1 year old Sony TV. I am sad that it is not usable on my "old" HD TVs upstairs which are only 4 years old but do not have the capability.
I use a Roku 2 and have given several as gifts. They've worked flawlessly. I gave the Roku Stick as a gift because this model could be plugged right into the TV to hide some cords on their mounted TV. Also, because the remote seems to work really, really well from anywhere in their large living room, something the Roku 2s aren't able to do without turning the Roku box. However, every so often the Roku Stick freezes on the screensaver, or gets stuck on the loading bouncy screen for days until it's manually reset, or the remote loses it's connection to the Roku Stick and also has to be reset. The workarounds do the trick, but it has been frustrating to have to do this every few weeks out of the first three weeks of use... Everything else about it has been fine.
