I have two in the two months and have problems. The first worked perfectly for a month and then died. The second only worked intermittently. I talked to support and they said I needed to try the other HDMI port on the TV and select different settings for the WIFI connection. That did work for a day or two until my set-top box no longer worked with the other port. When I switched back, the ROKU doesn't work. I know there maybe an issue with the TV HDMI ports, but the first worked for a month before it no longer powered up.
I bought this product instead of purchasing smart tv's and/or blu ray player for two rooms in my home. When we installed the first one we were very happy the product overall, with all the channels we were able to connect with. However when we installed the second one it is always buffering. I thought it was the internet, so I increased internet plan and speed...to no avail. The second roku continues to buffer. So we can only use one roku at a time in our home. :( We also thought we would save money by being able to get channels that we have on our cable plan. But we found out you have to have a cable plan in order to use the channels on roku...big disappointment. I like the product and the idea of if I can get two to work.
We love our Rokus in every room! No cable for us! After "cutting the cable cord" and trying Apple TV love how easy to use our Rokus are. I love the apps and how I can search any movie, show, or star from Roku and I have the option to chose where I can purchase my choice!
It is quite easy to navigate. My biggest problem is not using it on a daily basis, remembering the stops to navigate. It doesn't take long to refresh my memory.
Easy setup but that's about the most positive thing I can say.
The Interface is reasonably straightforward, but the performance is questionable. Sometimes the interface starts up (relatively) quickly but other times hangs on the Roku startup screen for a long time. I've waited for several minutes on more than one occasion to get past the starting screen before I got frustrated and turned it off.
Launching each of the individual content apps was also frustratingly slow. Hulu Plus takes a lonnng time to load and Netflix wasn't much better. Incredibly, the Netfilx interface did not have a search function so there was no was to easily find specific titles other than scrolling through huge lists of items. Netflix on other platforms definitely has this feature so I'm not sure why it's not available here.
The included remote feels sluggish to use and the optional iPhone app to control the device is even more so. Long delays between clicking a button and having the action performed. Sometimes multiple clicks required to perform action.
The Roku stick is a neat concept and I wished it worked better. I've heard that the actual Roku boxes are more polished and perform better but the stick just feels sub-par. Can't honestly recommend it.
I bought the streaming stick thinking it was plug and play but it isn't you have to keep the plug attached to it for it to work. Compromised my whole wireless look. Steaming tho is a 4 stars I have FiOS so I'm not sure if I'm getting faster streaming due to that?
I have a roku stick setup is pretty simple . Some channels require a subscription others only show clips of shows . Thats a negative cause who bought this to only see 3 minute clips of their shows . If you dont have Netflix or any movie channels it can get very boring like having basic cable without the weather or local channels . They have alot of channels but you don't know if it will have real shows or just clips until you add them
