Love the Roku - use this tip to get started

Getting started with the Roku stick would have been easy if we had just understood one key piece of information: after inserting the stick into the back of the TV and turning the TV on, press the "video source" button on the cable (not Roku) remote. To stream directly to the TV, we had to continue to toggle the same button to select HDMI2. Once on HDMI2, piece of cake. We love this device.

Roku was given to me for Christmas. I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been so pleased with it. It is easy to use and set up. The movies load fast and play with no interruptions. I have been so pleased with it. I am planning to subscribe to some streaming services because it works so well.

Good product for the price

This is a great product for the price.
In order to make this product a standalone device that can be used in the place of cable or satellite, Roku needs to make agreements with TV content providers (FOX, ESPN, CBS, The CW, etc.). The Roku in its current state IS NOT a cable/satellite alternative.
I would highly recommend plugging this product into the wall rather than using the USB power. Using USB, when the TV is turned off the Roku will lose power, and the Roku remote will lose its connection to the device. When powering the TV back on and selecting the Roku input, many times I would have to unplug the Roku from the USB power (on TV) and plug it back in because it would take forever to boot up. Also, many times the remote would lose the connection and I would have to manually pair the remote to the device again.

Used a Wii to stream for several years, but this is a huge improvement. Starts up fast and love the remote.

Roku On-Off Performance

Hello,
After receiving the Roku and using it for a couple of hours, it loses connection to the TV. After some troubleshooting it looks like the Roku is not firming connecting to the TV HDMI port. Very disappointed.

Great Addition to My Home Entertainment System

I apprehensively purchased a Roku's Streaming Stick a month ago. While researching online, most reviews noted that it was not as fast the Roku 3, but I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the device streamed. It was even faster than the entertainment apps pre-installed on my Smart TV.
