This is the best thing I have ever spent My money on. I can honestly say,I'm looking for amother way of getting Internet so could get rid of My outrageous cable bill. Roku has many free channels and let's You pay for what You want to pay for,After the initial investment in the Roku stick. The remote makes it usable with any tv.
I bought this for xmas as an alternative to having cable installed in one of the bedrooms. I'm so glad i did. Love the variety of offerings this little stick offers! I plan on purchasing another one for yet another bedroom. Would def recommend
This is my second Roku, as I have had a Roku HD on my other TV for a few years. I find that the Roku stick matches the HD in both functionality and interface, which is very refreshing. I don't have experience with the faster Roku 3, but the stick seems fast enough for my liking. Movies load in a few seconds, and there isn't much lag as I use the menu. I love the options that the Roku gives me. The main thing I would suggest for functional improvement would be to allow the user to program the "speed dial" buttons on the remote (since I never use Blockbuster and often use Pandora).
We are retired people from Michigan who spend winter months in Florida. We subscribe to Netflix and decided to buy a Roku Streaming Stick so that we could use Netflix wherever we go. We love it!
I received my stick as a gift. I mainly use it for free Youtube content. So far I haven't tried any subscriptions, but there seems to be a lot of variety of program sources. To get the best use of the stick you must have a tablet or other computer. The search function on the remote is not at all useful. Instructions are poor for setup, but if you use computers daily you can figure it out. It took me under an hour. You have to enter passwords and codes a lot to complete setup, so be patient.-- Image quality is good if you are viewing good quality video to start with. -- I find I have to constantly go back and forth between the remote and my nexus 7, so the remote is more of a bother than a help. It's hard to figure out what some of the goofy buttons do until you just try them. The device is okay for the price (free) but if you use subscription content mostly get a better media player. -- Mine requires the provide power cord and gets de-energized when I leave the house since I turn off the TV at the surge protector. So far there are no problems with this practice. The device has no on-off switch and stays energized all the time. It gets warm, but not enough to scare me yet.
