Does What We Need

We recently purchased a Roku stick after cancelling our cable subscription. We primarily use this device for Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime streaming, and for that it is adequate. The menu seems sluggish at times and apps take a tad bit longer to load than I would like. We paid a premium price over this sticks competitors, primarily for miracast, which does work flawlessly. Overall if I did not require miracast support I'm not sure I can recommend the Roku at the higher price point over the competition.

I bought the roku streaming stick a couple of months ago. I just wanted to try it out and see if it was all that great. Well, it is. It's really easy to use, and if I can't find the remote (or I'm lazy), my tablet and my siblings' smartphone's roku app is just as easy to use. I've put up funny youtube videos and channels for everyone in my family. It's been great.

I have streamed Hulu and Netflix for years through an Xbox 360 and also a Wii consul but wanted a new device for our main room for streaming our shows. I am really bummed out with the quality of this product. First, the remote is a huge hassle, many times it just stops working. I have to take the batteries out of the remote and back in and hope that it will work. Another thing i don't love about Roku is that it constantly drops its connection to the internet and stops to load information a lot. Lastly, there have been several times when I am watching Tv and it stops to load and then fails to do so, at this point sometimes i can press the back button and try again but other times it freezes and i have to unplug Roku and start it up again. I received this as a gift for Christmas and so, in just over a month i have experienced multiple annoyances. Roku is not working as well as other products i have used and requires a lot of attention to keep it working.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great selections

My wife gave this to me as a Christmas gift. It was easy to set up and easy to operate. Picture quality is excellent. A good substitute for cable or satellite tv.

Better Streaming

Very good for movies and TWC broadcast. Occasional buffering but not too bad. Better speed/range with the 5 gHz band.
