I bought this with great expectations. I already have two chromecasts but decided to invest in this for my wife's TV in the exercise room because of the remote. My wife is mad because the performance has been extremely unpredictable and erratic from day one. There seem to be issues with wi-fi all the time. Some days ( very few) it works absolutely fine - other days it is constantly buffering - sometimes for more than 30 minutes. I have reset it multiple times. It works for a day or so and then back to its true form. Really a piece of junk! Thinking of ordering an Amazon Fire Stick instead!
I was told it would work on my laptop tablet. And it does not work. And it works ok on a TV but I would not recommend this device. I am very sad that I spent the money on it.
I bought a Roku 3 about a year ago to replace my aging Home Theater PC (HTPC), and couldn't have been happier with it. It works fantastic as a Plex client. When my wife asked me to mount an LED television in our exercise room, I decided to take a chance and use a Roku Streaming Stick to power it. The Roku Streaming Stick is very small - about the size of a USB flash drive - and can be powered using a USB port on your television (what I did) or using an included power adapter. The Roku Streaming Stick works exactly like my Roku 3, except that it takes a little longer to boot and load applications. Considering the price and tiny size, it's an absolutely amazing little device.
I bought this to replace my chrome cast to stream my vudu etc and i Love it its streams faster and the menus are super simple. I recommend this for anyone looking for a easy to use and set up streaming tick that does most everything. the only thing i use the chrome cast for now is streaming my games from the computer because there is not a Chanel to do this yet on roku.
My son-in-law brought me Roku for a Christmas Gift and whoa...I wish I had known about Roku before. Already I estimate saving in hundreds of dollars as opossed to cable subscription. Because with Roku you get numerous movie selection's that'll cost far more on cable subscriptions. I can't stop watching all the cool features of Roku! Kindly, Jim Walker, Chesterfield, Va USA
