Bought this in hopes of replacing the Roku box and cables. But unfortunately has terrible wifi signal. Our router is a 2.4ghz and was only 40 feet away. The Roku couldn't pick up the signal enough to stream Netflix or Amazon.
Love the fact that i cab add the channels i want easily the remote is different from the first roku stick i bought and i dint talky like it because the buttons stick and it skips alot of options other than that i love it.
I ended up having to download the app anyway because I had to remove and replace the battery EVERY time I wanted to press a button on the remote. Up.. Remove, Replace, Right...SCREAM.. Remove, Replace... Scream... Select, Remove, Replace.. The app works great on my iPhone so once I gave up on the remote control, it was awesome for all my services. Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu Plus...
I receives this a month ago after buying a 3 month subscription to Sling TV. It greatly improved my ability to watch Sling TV. I'm giving it 4 stars because of some reduction in quality in the afternoon probably due to wifi interference. Otherwise, it's an awesome buy.
We have a roku on our main TV and have been very happy with it. We purchased a new TV for the upstairs and chose to get a Roku stick for the convenience. We were very unhappy with it. It performed much slower then the box. We had multiple problems with it freezing. Problems we never had encountered before with roku. Had to reset a few times after the third time resetting we went back to the traditional Roku and have not had any problems.
I already have the box version. I bought this for another location where we have a dog that liked to get at and chew up everything. It works just as well as the box, which I love, and is inaccessible to the "monster."
I was given this as part of a promotional offer from Sling TV. Before then, I had never considered using Roku. I have Chromecast and was happy with that. After using the Roku stick, however, I realize what I have been missing out on. Having a remote makes a world of difference and having the apps on the stick and not depending on an app to support Chromecast has opened up a variety of entertainment options for me. My only suggestion would be to add a power button to the Roku stick so you can turn it off when not in use; right now I unplug it from the wall (I'd rather not leave it on all day).
