I am a Mac guy and my first foray into streaming devices was an AppleTV. When it was time to get an additional device for another TV I thought I'd try the Roku stick. Mostly, because it had all the main channels I needed (Netflix, Vudu, HBO Go and Amazon Prime) and was half the cost. I still like the AppleTV and it's airplay feature is nice to have but I've moved the Roku to the main TV as it is more convienent and easier for everyone in the family to use. I also love the fact that it plugs into the usb port and is out of sight out of mind. I have since bought another one for my kids TV in the basement.
I bought this stick to go with the TV I received for Christmas. I've been having sound issues since after it updated a little while after Christmas. I've deleted and re-added the channels the sound affected more. But it got progressively worse, I reset the TV and the stick, nothing happened. Went to reset the stick again and now it won't recognize the remote. I did everything possible to fix the sound issue, including switching the setting to "stereo" and nothing helped. That alone makes me hate this product. I should not have to turn my tv off, to turn it on to MAYBE have the sound work again for the roku stick.
This is the second one I've had to take back to the store, seems like once they've been unplugged they don't work anymore it starts automatically rebooting and then my time warner cable keeps saying every channel is currently unavailable. This is the roku that plugs into the hdmi port and it needs lots of improvement.
