Compact, Inexpensive and Feature Rich are all the reasons to want the Roku USB Stick. However, WiFi performance was so abysmal, that it really only worked on the TV closest to the router.
Unfortunately the remote did not work so I had to return it. I bought an Apple TV and am very happy. I do own two older Roku players and have had no problems with them.
ROKU Streaming Stick review My wife and I, like most – or a growing number of consumers, are tired of paying hard-earned money for the junk that is on TV these days. Yeah, there are some good channels and programming, but there is a LOT of ‘shock value’ filth and little ‘family value’ programming. So we decided to act on it, and get rid of cable. Part of that decision was made possible with our new awareness of options such as ROKU. We thought “How wonderful would it be to watch some of the programs we like free of charge - and more importantly - not be obligated to pay for all that we don’t like”? Winner!
So after researching all the ‘streaming’ options, we thought ROKU would be our choice. Which model? Streaming Stick. We bought, we brought home, installed, and voila!
Not so fast there bubby. Voila happened and lasted for less than a day. Since then we have had complications and frustration set in, and now we are not very happy. We are barely able to use it. If it’s not one thing it’s another. If the wifi finally makes it happy, the remote doesn’t work. If the remote works, it can’t stay on the wifi without interruption. If we can get it to stay connected but the remote won’t work, then the iPhone app will. Then the remote NEVER works until the app is not on… and we have to re-boot the stick to get the remote to even reconnect.
My new thought is you chose the right name… a stick might work better. Take the batteries out, put them back in. Re-pair the stick with the remote. Reset the stick with the hidden button. Unplug the stick from the HDMI port, unplug the power from the stick. Re-plug the power, re-insert into the HDMI port. Take the batteries out and put them back in. Check your internet connection. Hold down the hidden reset button for at least 60 seconds. Unplug the stick for the HDMI, and also from the power for at least 60 seconds. Re-power and re-insert.
AAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about y’all re-insert it? Sorry, that had to be said.
Fix it will ya?
Apple TV is looking better and better. So are the other options.
The stick sucks. The remote doesn't work at all so i have to use the remote app for my phone. The only thing good about it is that i can easily move it to another TV if needed.
