I've had myh Roku Streaming Stick for about 2 months now. I also have cable, so I don't use it as much as maybe someone who doesn't have cable might. I like the fact that you can add different stuff, but I've found it's a bit slow to respond. Sometimes I'm pushing a button several times before I get a reaction, and by then it's registered multiple tries and I wind up someplace I didn't intend to be.
But you can't beat the cost. I do wish there was an easier way to search than selecting one letter at a time. This can be very annoying--especially if you make a mistake or you're not really sure about a title.
If they had used AA instead of AAA batteries this device would be PERFECT. The only problem I have is the remote batteries die quickly, it can not be turned off. I also have the Roku stick that plugs into the TV and is controlled by the TV (AA) remote. It works PERFECT. The other two use the Roku remote with AAA batteries you must use Duracell batteries, not the ones that came with the Roku in the box. Also the 3400 Roku has a much better interface for Netflix than the 3500 Roku. The Roku 3400 is only powered by the TV, so I had to buy the 3500's. Wish I could power the 3400 from a cell charger like the 3500. The 3400 is great at night as if you fall asleep watching a show it stops at the end. The 3500 will play several episodes before stopping. sometimes I like that, sometimes not. I use my 3400 when in bed, and the 3500 for everything else. Wish they had a setting for selecting what the Roku should do after a show.
In any case the Roku's are the best video stick and I recommend them to everyone I know. The channel selection is fantastic, and I use mine all the time. Once I used the Duracell AAA things got better, still wish for AA remotes.
I like the Roku stick. It is easy to set up and use.The only thing is it freezes once in awhile.I just unplug it for a few seconds and plug it back in and it works fine.Other then that,I do not have a problem with it.
Originally bought Roku 3 for main tv. Bought the Roku stick to replace a dvd that streamed Netflix and to take with when traveling. Between all the different stations I can find more then I have time to watch. Currently watch network tv with an antenna but if I were not able to receive stations clearly i could sign up for Sling TV.
So unless your need to watch cable sports programs there is not a reason to pay the high cost of cable/satellite.
