I like that this is not another piece of equipment sitting on my media console. It plugs into the HDMI port behind the tv and the remote can communicate with it.. (not sure how that works, but it does) and I still get the same great Roku channels... Take it out of the box plug it in and you are all set....doesn't get any easier than that..
I think that they should have more shows and when I got the rocku the instructions didn't say if the remote doesn't turn on to press the reset button inside the remote where the batteries are. it's ok otherwise
At first I couldn't get it set up because of the security block from my cable provider. I called tech support and they walked me through it in no time. Have not had an issue with it since.
The Roku stick works well for all the apps. I have not tested it with playing games. I only use it to access Netflix or Youtube. Compared to the stand alone unit, the processor may be a little slow in the stick but you cannot tell the difference. It is similar to Amazon Fire TV stick but made of flimsier materials with a larger remote. That doesn't affect the performance though. To gain an upperhand over Amazon Fire TV stick, the Roku stick should be made available with the more advanced remote (with headphones socket).
I've had 2 sticks for several months now. The idea is great. I like how the stick plugs into the TV and can even be powered by the TV if it has USB which means no visible wires or 'set top' boxes. The stick also streams real well and very sharp. The massive problem with this device is the remote and its' pairing with the stick. Many times, I will press a button and nothing happens. Other times I will scroll through a list and its as if the button has stuck and will continue scrolling to the end without pressing anything. Sometimes pressing the "pair" button doesn't repair the remote with the stick and I have to pull the batteries out of the remote and power off the stick before I can get a response.
I have two other Roku original models and this stick works even easier between stores at a cheaper price. It was the easiest to connect and set up too.
