Content is great. Remote is not.

The decision to use WiFi frequencies for the remote was probably wrong. I don't see why they couldn't stick with Bluetooth or existing RF solutions. I have spent way too much time on calls and chats with tech support. I have added the dongle which many others have had to use. I have tried it on multiple TVs in different rooms. I have changed my network's channel (btw, if your product is going to make the customer change their network, maybe you should note that on the box.) Tech support even walked me through "hacking in" and increasing the transmit power. Sometimes I can use the app on my phone to control it, but that stops working after a bit too. (And I don't want to use my phone anyway. I want a remote with buttons so I don't have to keep looking down at the phone to see where to press.) I really wish they would just let me trade it in for a credit on the much better boxes. The stick is barely usable.
The stick works fine but ever since I bought it I noticed that I'll have to press the remote several times before l'll get to it move on the TV sreen. I thought it might be because the stick goes behind the TV but now it just doesn't work at all. I've had it for less than 2 months. I've been having to use my tablet as a remote. That sucks! My tab is big so it feels uncomfortable. I also have The Roku 3 device but haven't had any problems with it.
I bought this a month ago to eliminate wires from cable. It performs well for cable, but seems to lose it's memory when TV is first turned on. I have to continue to unplug it and restart it. The content of free channels is nothing I am interested in. Old shows, etc...
Sometimes the stick doesn't pick up the remote's signal. And it always seems to happen whenever I need to pause the show really quickly, like if I'm getting a phone call, or the kid walks in the room while I'm watching Orange Is the New Black. It's like it senses that I really need to use the remote, and it then laughs at me as I try desperately to turn it off. I've had to settle with just turning the tv off sometimes, which, of course, turns off the Roku, making me boot the thing back up again.
Have had the Roku Stick about a month now and love that I am watching what I want and not paying a monthly fee. There are SO many free channels to watch. I ignore the ones that cost (that would defeat my reason for dumping cable). I currently have over 100 channels saved that cost me NOTHING to watch and I still have many more to check out!
When I first bought the Roku I found set up easy & couldn't wait to use it for watching movies on Netflix. Now I am frustrated in the amount of times I have to re-set the remote because it won't work from the beginning or I will get to watch movie & I can't pause it or turn it off & return to home.
