This is by far the worst of the roku devices. I own 3 other roku devices. roku 1, 2, and HD. I have had very little issues if any with the other 3 models. This roku stick on the other hand is absolutely the worst. First off I have to switch the batterys at least 3 times and day.(sometimes more). The batterys aren't low but the remote stops working and you have to remove both batterys and flip them, Then the remote works great for a little bit. The second thing is the roku just hangs up and I have to power it down and back up to fix it. Overall I would have given this device a 0 but this review wont allow a 0. Look at other reviews and you will find these problems to be very common.
The functions of Roku is great. The options seem endless but you need to look at each item to understand what charges apply. Sometimes it is hard to tell what is free and what involves a fee. I also was under the impression that almost any internet service was adequate. That was an mistake for me. I had to upgrade my internet service to make the Roku work. Slow downloads makes it totally unacceptable. I am still learning how to navigate around to get to things that interest me. Still it is a good product that I recommend.
After initially getting a defective streaming stick, the replacement that was sent quickly by Roku has worked just fine. It has taken awhile for me to get used to the difference in the interface that appears on the screen compared to my Roku LT which it is replacing. It is small, it was easy to set up (at least after the return of the defective one), and it does what it is supposed to do, which is saving me a lot of money by using streaming only. In addition, I have much more that I like to watch by streaming than I ever did with cable or satellite TV.
The One and Only reason I wanted a Roku was for Acorn TV and viewing Midsomer Murders!! Seriously, it has been my favorite show ever on PBS but am years behind as no new shows were ever added to their lineup. How thrilling .. now not only am I catching up but so very many other British shows to watch, including New Zealand murder mysteries. AND, it's a full screen view, not the boxy viewing that I dislike. I will point out that being a sometimes confused senior, I have never hooked anything up to HDMI so it took me longer to figure out this one simple task along with navigating the passwords for Roku and Acorn. A great learning experience and I LOVE IT!
