Between work and home I have purchased about a dozen Roku units. I have really enjoyed my Roku 1's, and 2's. The stick does not work as well as the other Roku units. It looses signal easily and the remote fails constantly (regardless of which remote I use). It is more difficult to do most of the functions as an example if you want to go through and rate movies you have already seen, it will start each movie you select causing you to have to stop the movie and greatly delay moving to the next rating. I could go on but I will never buy another stick and I will stay with the basics Roku 1, 2 and 3.
I got this about a month ago after originally trying out the Roku 1. The first model had a very clunky look as far as the apps were concerned- my main issue was with the Netflix app being awful. I primarily bought a roku in order to watch Netflix on my tv, so that was unacceptable to me. However, with the streaming stick, I've had a much better experience. The netflix app looks great and is much more user friendly. Software seems better. Also, I can cast things like youtube to the stick, which I could not do with the roku 1. I just wish that there were more casting abilities, the way that there is with chromecast. That would really set the roku above and beyond some of the other streaming media players, especially the chromecast.
I have this on my primary living room TV. It took me about two years to decide to cut the cord but increasingly I was watching far more TV on Netflix and too little on Direct TV. I have not regreted it once. I am paying less and enjoying many more channels I watch with ROKU. I compared the stick from you and from Amazon Fire and the ROKU pretty much won hands down. I have four TV's one 3 two sticks and a 2CE. The 3 is superior, but it should be, the stick is a little slower but more than acceptable for a TV in the Bedroom or Kitchen
I received the Roku as a gift with purchase. Overall, it's wonderful, but it has a tendency to freeze if the commands go to fast. Then it needs to be turned off & on again. When using with antenna TV you need a strong antenna or it will cause interference if left on. That gets to be a problem with the stick version that I have because that means unplugging because there's no off button.
I purchased Roku to stream the WWE Network and I would not ever use anything else to view that app. It never buffers and it has the best picture ever!!! Thank you Roku!! Plus I love the extra features and movies! WOW!
