I used my sister's firestick a couple time and was thoroughly impressed. I thought the roku would offer the same type of value.
Boy was i wrong, everything that would offer any real value or entertainment costs additional monthly subscriptions.
The national tv channels streams cost money, there are extremely limited movie channels with nothing current available.
Netflix, hulu and the 24 hr poker channel are about the only good functions the roku has to offer. All the subscriptions you'd have to purchase to fully enjoy the benefits of having a roku you could buy a pretty significant cable or satellite tv package.
I would not recommend, buy a firestick and pay the money to have it programmed.

The best tv product I could buy! I have Netflix, vudu and hulu. Way more to watch than basic cable.

The remote seems to lose sync with the stick a lot. I have to remove the batteries to get it to connect again. Some apps freeze up a lot.
