I have the Roku Stick for the smaller tv in my bedroom. It works real well, except it's a bit slower than my Roku 3. I noticed when in stand by, it stays pretty warm so it must be drawing a bit of current when not in use. Would be nice if it didn't, so I just unplug it. It's supposed to remain plugged in for updating, but I just manually do it. Overall I like it and would recommend it for someone who wants a Roku that is a little cheaper than the Roku 3 or wants something portable.
I originally purchased the Chromecast and loved the ease of access from my phone to the TV. However, I wanted many more apps to choose from besides Youtube and Netlflix. I reluctantly tried the Roku and immediately returned my Chromecast. The remote and available apps make this purchase a simple decision.
We had a TV with internet apps but the software must be out of date or slow because we kept losing connection. With the Roku we haven't had the disconnect issues as often. Also love the channels available. Makes it easy to watch HBO to Go. Also our local TV channel has a Roku channel so if we lose Sat but not internet - we can still watch.
This is my second Roku stick and really enjoying the variety of shows it offers. I was committed to cutting the cable and it has helped me with that transition.
I bought the Roku stick about a month ago and am in love with it! Set up was extremely easy..it is practically fool proof to set up, my 6 year old can do it no problem. You can watch just about anything with the Roku stick that is available on cable for less than half the price. This purchase for me was a no brainer.
I like this with one exception. MY TV will not power it so I have to use the included power supply. I imagine newer TV will have the powered USB ports, but mine doesnt. (Its old, as far as LED TVs go.)
