I have the Roku stick for no other reason than it works with Sling TV, and I received it free with a prepaid subscription. I own two Apple TVs and a Chromecast, and have to be honest. The Roku isn't bad, but it's a little on the slow side and the Roku versions of apps like Netflix seem to be a little outdated.
Streaming is good quality, the remote needs some work. Because of the amount of interference in my area, the remote stops working frequently and have to remove the batteries to make it work again. You are better off with the smart phone app if you have the same problem.
I don't know what took me so long to get rid of the $100 directv bill, but I finally did and I am so happy I did I love my roku. I have one on all the tv's the used to be connected to a dish. The monthly savings will fund a vacation.
I love the size of the streaming stick however it only works about 30% of the time without the Roku HDMI cable. It buffers constantly and while Roku provides the HDMI cable for free (for now), it would be great if the device worked right out of the box so to speak.
