I recently bought this product and so far it has performed as described however I do not care for the slow start and the dancing/jumping "ROKU" word right after you turn on your TV.
I bought the Roku stick because I was unable to use the DLNA features of my Vizio TV. The Roku works perfectly when it works, but still has issues. First problem I had was it wouldn't connect to my network. I had to search the internet to find a technical writeup on how to get into the hidden setup options and disable ping before it would work at all. The main problem I have now is that I have to put new batteries in the remote about once a week.
I've had this for several months and it's been great. The only problem I've had is one day the remote was no longer "paired" with the stick for some reason. Batteries were good, but it just stopped. So I found guides online to try to get it working again. I tried many different methods and followed many solutions to get it working again. The one that finally worked forced me to reset the stick, which caused the loss of all my apps and accounts. Huge pain to re-add all those and then re-sign in. I work in software development, so that should give you an indication as to my technical know-how, and I found it to be a big problem that took over two hours to get working again.
Not impressed with this device. I hope you can get some more programming in the future. I do not like that I had to subscribe and keep a Credit Card on file with you. Free means free and that is what your package says over 20,000 programs free. But to see them I first needed to register. One cannot register without a credit card.
I was happy upon the initial installation, but after unplugging can't get it working! Took on vacation with me not knowing whether I would need it, turned out I didn't. Got home and plugged back in and haven't been able to use since.
