I had trouble with connecting the Roku streaming stick. The light would not go on. Called Roku help and got help with the light but then the remote light wouldn't stay on without removing the back and pressing the button. Finally after 3 days of trying with online chat and calls to Roku was able to use product. Then I had to change my modem and because of that I had to reenter my password. The screen with the letters and numbers was difficult to use. If I used the arrow to go to a number it would scan past the number and sometimes not move at all. I did get a very patient Roku help employee to walk me through the process but it took 5 minutes to enter 10 numbers. Very frustrating. I know this must be an exception because I have read numerous good reviews about this product but I have never had so much trouble with a device. Again, the person, Steve, in Colorado Springs, was very patient and helpful but the device was less than user friendly.
Roku is good to use. The only problem with it that it can't work too far from the internet. I bought a second one to put in my room Wich is upstairs not too far from the box. It didn't read and work.
I have owned the Roku Streaming Stick about 2 months. I had been considering a streaming player for about a year. I educated myself so I could make the decision which streaming player to buy and if it would be worth my money. I am happy with my choice and purchase of Roku. I am 60 + and consider myself to be more old school.. Thought I would need assistance hooking it up to my tv and programming. I did it myself in a few minutes. Then signed up for channels, and was watching a movie within 2 hours of set up. Something for everyone, children's channels, cooking and a classic cars channel, many news channels and retro tv shows.Only complaint, commercials on a few of the free channels come in a tad loud.I hope Roku will put this in a review forum, my reason for writing this is to share with others and hopefully encourage others to have the great experience I took to long to try. Just make sure if you get the streaming stick, that you have an HDMI port on the tv, otherwise you'll have to go with 1 of the Roku boxes. I'm told they are also very easy to set up. Lastly, if by chance your into documentaries, as I am. There are many, on several of the channels.
My last one a couple of years ago was great. just purchased a whole new ROKU recently! very unhappy, I have used a new package of batteries (24) thinking it would straighten out, but you replace both batteries, and it works for about 10 minutes, you turn off TV and it wont come on again, finally I have given up, I have an apple tv in my bedroom that has worked for 3 years, so I have just quit using my tvwith the roku on it, I am very disappointed, and have tried to reach Gettington , and roku to see if i could get a replacement, with no avail,
I have a Roku Streaming Stick and a Roku 3 and while the streaming stick is definitely slower than the box, you can't beat the convenience. I had a television mounted on the wall and didn't want to run additional cables. The streaming stick powers from the tv's usb port and is no additional mess. It's the same capabilities as the box, just with a hair more lag in the menus. The programming works just as effectively. Worth it if you need to spend less or want a smaller set up.
