Well, it was not too hard to plug in, ah ah , and after a while, got the image! but that was it! No sound. I have a home theatre set up that combines multiple brands: tv is Panasonic, power amp/receiver is a Sony, blueRay player is from Samsung,...you get the idea. Now, it seems after two hours of attempting every possible configurations, I could not get the sound on. So, I took the Roku stick back to the store.
This is the 3rd Roku we have added to the family. No harder than plugging into the HDMI input back of the tv, it is powered by the usb slot also on the back of the set. Also love the ability to wirelessly transmit music and pictures or video from my iPhone to my tv through the Roku app.
I have three, one I put back to go back, the second seems to work, and I am hesitant to open the third. The first two constantly lose pairing with the remote and the only way to get it back is to pull the batteries and start again. Also no headphone jack on the remote. Having to use Wifi instead of Ethernet streaming is a bit of a pain as well. Ultimately I think these will go back in favour of Roku 3 or Apple TVs.
