I "cut the cable" approximately 4 years ago, and purchased a Roku box. Have I missed cable? Not a bit. About 6 weeks ago, I purchased a "smart" TV, that is wall mounted, along with a Roku streaming stick. The Roku 2 box is now with the TV in another room. If I had it to do over, I would have gotten another Roku 2. I thought my stick was defective, until I spoke with others who have the stick and same issues. Every time I turn on the TV and Roku, it is not ready; then the remote will not work at first....almost as though it is buffering. At first, I thought it was batteries...not so.
I don't know if this is a "line of sight" situation, or exactly what the problem is, but obviously a defect in design or similar, since others are experiencing the same problems.
I love Roku, and will put up with the idiosycrasies of the streaming stick. However, when this one goes out, unless it has been improved, I will replace with the Roku box. Sorry, Roku, but I have to call 'em as I see 'em. I hope you can resolve these issues.
