This is the 3rd one I bought for one of our televisions in our home and have not experienced any problems until now. The buttons don't always work. It's mostly the back and forward arrows but some times the unit just freezes and none of the buttons work.
I started with the second generation Roku XS and haven't looked back since. Cancelled my cable after I found out what Roku could do. Best thing I ever did.
We have a streaming stick on our upstairs TV that we have been very happy with. Decided to replace our Amazon Fire Stick downstairs with a Roku Streaming Stick. Device performs almost flawlessly with almost no bouts of buffering. Extremely happy with the quality. I highly recommend.
Overall I really enjoy my Roku Streaming Stick. The only issue I have is that my Hulu app is always freezing then loading. I'm not sure if it's the app or my internet but no other app does this.
I bought the stick because I wanted to have one less thing to plug into my power strip. I have the stick plugged into the TV for power using the USB. I routinely use Netflix, Hulu, and Showtime apps. So far I have had problems only once with the Showtime app. Otherwise, not complaints. I ended up getting a second stick, and have retired both of my older Rokus.
You can read all the glowing reviews on here, so you really don't need another one. What I do want to contribute is the resolution to a potential issues some may be having. I have a TV mounted to the wall in my garage. Upon plugging in my Roku Stick I had nothing but WiFi connection issues. So much so that after spending hours on the phone with support, and returning my first one for another, I was about to give up completely. My phone, tablet and laptop had no issues picking up my WiFi signal in the garage.
Finally I came across an support article (from Roku themselves) that suggested using an HDMI extender cable - which they would send me free - for this *known issue*. Not one time did any of the support reps via chat or phone suggest this. I submitted the request online and a week later the cable showed up. Immediately upon firing my Roku Stick my WiFi signal was found (full strength at that) and I was up and running.
Long story short, if you are having connection problems with your wall mounted TV, and you are sure your WiFi is solid, request this HDMI extender cable.
