Went to remove it from the tv because it was not functioning and part of it stayed in the tv...it's irreparable. Was working nicely until this happened.
This unit was given to me by a relative. It fills a gap that exists in my sat system. I can watch programs produced by unknowns. Too bad there is too much pay for entertainment. Also, would love to see a better remote control.
The Roku streaming stick is easily my favorite purchase this year. Having quick access to so many streaming services is so awesome, and the Roku remote app on my iPhone is slick and makes navigating the interface super easy.
I've had this for over a year. I personally like my old box better. It always works. The stick always seems to have problems. It won't stay in the TV, I have to reset it, no internet connection, etc. I wanted to love it, but I don't. I like that I don't have another box sitting on my TV stand, but that's about it. I also hate the Netflix interface. You cannot restart a movie. You have to rewind it all the way back to the beginning. There are other features missing from it too. I am assuming this is a ROKU issue, because my old box works great with Netflix and has all the old features.
I love the Roku 3; I have Chromecast, FireTV, FireTV Stick, and AppleTV - and the Roku 3 has always won out, especially for the mlb.tv app. I wanted another for my office television, so I decided to try the Roku Stick. The minor flaw is the lag time, which can be annoying, but that isn't the real issue -- the major flaw is the shoddy remote control, which has a cheap, too-flat, rubberized navigation button that is almost impossible to use without the navigation either running across the tv, or freezing then opening an app you did not choose, or fast-forwarding forever, or just not working at all. The device itself seems to be on par with the Roku 3 (if slower), but without being able to navigate the thing this is a deal breaker.
I love all of the apps you get with the roku. However sometimes it seems to get "stuck" when switching between things. On Netflix for example, it switches through the programs extremely fast at times and I am not even clicking the button. I have had to have the remote exchanged once already for other problems. But this still happens.
