I bought this Roku stick when I got my Roku ready tv. It really turns my tv into a smart tv. Lots of choices of apps to choose from. Some are free, some you pay for as you go, and some require a monthly subscription. To me it is well worth it. Its like having hulu too because you can search the channels you already receive for missed shows. Only downfall is the stick gets hot if you leave it plugged into the tv and charger....so I do not leave it plugged in continuously, I plug it in as I use or need it, and it works just fine that way. A really handy gadget and simple menus.
This little stick packs a powerful punch. It's small and easily hidden, so there's no bulky box in the way. There are many options and channels to choose from. I am very pleased with my Roku stick.
Love my Roku stick. I went with the stick because I couldn't see any advantage to paying more for the Roku box. Here are the reasons I didn't give it a higher rating: I did have a lot of problems initially due to the Roku stick not "finding" my network although it identified my wireless. That was a pain, and involved multiple restarts of my wireless router, which then created added complications with my iPhone not finding the wireless. They definitely need to work on ensuring the routers don't mess up the I.P. addresses as happened with me. Secondly, the remote control seems cheaply made, and didn't respond to the batteries provided on the second day. I replaced them, and even then have frequently had to open the back, remove, then replace the batteries, in order for the remote to function.
That said, I love the range of apps available, and am delighted to have cut the cable cord.
I didn't like this at all. the menu on my ancient Roku 2 is much better and this stick gets horrible reception and simply would not pick up a strong wifi signal where my ancient Roku 2 would. I don't recommend this.
I had a friend recommend that I give Roku a try. I moved to a new apartment and decided to opt out the cable and try Roku. It has worked great so far. I've yet to explore all the numerous channels I have heard they have. It's convenient, I love the size and user friendly set-up. I also like that I can take it with me anywhere I go.
I do not like the option to sign up for every single channel. In a word nothing free in ROKU. Why bother to buy better stick with your regular cable line at least easy to remote.
