I have owned 2 roku players, Roku 2 and Roku 3, both were solid streaming devices until a month apart, both stopped working. I purchased the Roku Stick, having enjoyed the Roku players, but its not nearly as solid as the two boxes. Disappointing. It is constantly resetting to the Roku Screen, once connected, looses power intermittently reseting itself. It is not a TV or USB issue, the USB connections on the TV work fine, no other devices have an issue.
I received this as a Christmas gift last year and was so happy!! It lasted while it could I guess when I took it home over summer break the roku started to get worse and worse! As of today I no longer am able to use my roku because it decided to no longer work on my university network, and they said I needed to get a private network! I live in a dorm room and currently live by the saying "I AM A POOR COLLEGE STUDENT" I cannot afford to pay for my own internet, let alone are we allowed to install our own internet in dorm rooms!! I would never recommend someone to buy this product!! After the few recommendations given already I wish I could take them back! Never again will you ever see me wanting or recommending a ROKU product again!!! Once again do not buy these for college students, most likely it will not work, and if it does it will not work a year later!
This is my second Roku but first Roku stick. I love it. It's small and out of the way. It picks up my 5GHz signal which my other Roku does not. For me that's a big difference because a can surf the net and everything else on my 2.4GHz. Smooth sailing and no buffering. I love Roku because you can get a ton of streaming channels. I'm thinking of replacing my other Roku and getting another stick but just heard the Roku is coming out with a 4K box... :-)
This product was extremely easy to set up, and it does everything it is supposed to do. The only problem I have had is that I have had to change the batteries in the remote control TWICE in the last 9 months that I have had the Roku stick. I don't know why the batteries are being drained so quickly. It would be nice if there was some indicator that the batteries needed to be replaced because both times I have tried to reset the stick, powered off all equipment, etc because I assume there is a problem with the connection.
I am Technically Challenged but it took me only a short time to figure this out and start using it to watch LONGMIRE!! Easy to use and gives us a range of programming without extra costs.
I can only use the Roku Streaming Stick on one TV in my house and that's the one 15 feet from my wifi router. Anywhere else it just can't receive a strong enough signal.
Oh yeah, and the remote doesn't work well at all. You literally have to walk up to the TV and point the remote around back to the Roku device.
I bought it a month ago and is really good very friendly user only thing for improvement is the remote control. Sometimes it doesn't reach the roku from certain distance.
