I purchase this when we had to repair our roof and could not get any entertainment on our TV. It was perfect. My husband and I were very happy to be able to relax at night and watching something!
I love almost everything about this product. My only two issues are the stick is too long when you add the power cord and my tv has this weird spot for HDMI and I have to wedge it in the slot. That can't be good. Make the stick shorter if you can. Also there needs to be a wakeup button on the remote because sometimes when I try to pause or hit any random button, it does not work. I have to remove and replace a battery. Thank you.
I recently purchased a Roku streaming device and so far I love the service and features of Roku, I cut the cord from cable and so far I am not missing anything. I love access to mu Hulu and Netflix accounts as well as all of the other channels available to select, there is one thing I would like to see added such as live streaming of my local channels so that I don't have to buy an external HD antenna just to see local news and content on my TV.
I like the low profile of this roku player, but it is not without it's inconveniences. Mainly, every time I return to watch I must unplug it from the wall to reboot it. It gets hung up somehow It still allows me to browse shows, but doesn't allow me to watch anything unless I reboot. My Roku 3 does not have this problem.
This streaming stick is very easy to use, and is capable of running thousands of applications. Roku's strength is that it maintains a very impartial view of what apps it will run. Roku doesn't sell anything other than it's streaming hardware, therefor it doesn't block you from using services from any supplier (unlike some other manufacturers of streaming hardware out there...) Where does the Roku Streaming Stick fall short? It's slow. It's just not very snappy when it comes to conjuring up apps or browsing. All said, it's the best value for any streaming stick, and provides the most content. I'd recommend it.
The Roku Stick is a great alternative to the Roku 3 in price, especially when compact, space-saving design and/or portability is needed, and it offers the same interface and features. Performance is good in most cases, but is noticeably slower in comparison to the Roku 3, so don't expect to play high-intensity games or stream 4K MP4/MKV files. The only "con" was that ours arrived with a bum USB power cable, which made us initially think that the whole unit was DOA - Upon using another cable I had on-hand, the device worked fine.
