A really great iron that is used on a daily basis.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Hamilton Beach Durathon Non-Stick Iron as a gift from the Ambassador program. I really liked the way that the iron flows right through the garment that I’m ironing. It never sticks to the garment and is very lightweight. It also has a long cord that is easily plugged and reaches easily on my ironing board.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It Started Leaking Immediately after Adding Water

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I read through the instruction manual and found my iron doesn't have auto/off or a retractable cord (which is very long). I filled the reservoir with distilled water below the max fill line. Ut immediately began leaking all over my ironing board. Unplugged the iron and wrote this review. I didn't try anything else.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very nice iron!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using a clothing steamer for years now. I wanted an iron so that I can get some crisp lines on pants and a flat collar. It is hard to do this with a steamer. I have been using the Hamilton Beach Durathon non-stick iron and it has been fantastic! It feels heavy duty and will get the job done. I don't have to worry about it ruining my clothes either! Very good looking too.

Does as advertised.iwoul reccomend this iron,this product has a nice feel to it not bulkee at all,im located in Maine,ad i mentioned first all the features i believe that are important to me .

Basic good iron and steamer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sturdy iron works well as a regular iron and fairly easy and well as a vertical steamer. The symbols are easy to understand on it. I found I had to use a slightly warmer setting to get enough steam to get the wrinkles out of the synthetic fabrics. No problem with the cotton. It spit out a little water while using as a vertical steamer and took quite a few minutes to get the wrinkles out. Also a little heavy to use vertically.

Nice design and great feel

It makes ironing out those stubborn wrinkles out of my husbands dress clothes much easier. It is easy to fill with water which is very important. This iron makes the task of ironing much more enjoyable than it normally is.

An iron that means business!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first iron I’ve needed to acquire in probably two decades, and its description indicated it would fit my needs very well. When I opened the box, I was surprised to see that it was larger and heavier than the “full-sized” iron it was replacing. This iron means business! It is full-sized, has versatile features and enough heft to handle any fabric. If you want an iron that doesn’t mess around, this is it.

For first use, I started cautiously with a lightweight polyester top, cool temperature, no steam. The iron came to temperature quickly, but I did need to increase the temperature a bit from my “cautious” level to get the wrinkles out. Next up was a cotton knit top. I increased the temperature and turned on steam – good results. Last garment was a cotton camp shirt. I turned up the heat and moved the steam to mid-range, with the result of a nice crisp shirt with sharp creases in the sleeves in a very short amount of time. High marks for its first use as an iron.
This iron is convenient as a light use steamer, but I did not find it as effective as a purpose-built handheld steamer. I was surprised that it steams only in “shots”, but won’t maintain a continuing cloud of steam.
As a workhorse of a powerful iron with effective on-demand steam and dry functions, this is great. If you do sewing, tailoring, or crafts, my opinion is that this will be a trusted and reliable addition to your tools.
My only criticism is that the included instruction sheet is not particularly helpful. It includes the most basic functions of how to steam or dry iron, the fact that the iron gets hot, and plenty of common sense safety warnings. Interestingly, the safety information does not address the automatic shut off feature. (15 minutes when standing on end, 30 seconds if on the sole plate or side) I had to find that on the internet. The instructions on how to clean ignore any mention of the self-cleaning feature. I looked that up on the internet too.
