Great system

A great system for non-audiophile users. It is easy to set up; the main unit and the speakers look great; the wireless surround receiver and rear speakers work beautifully.
It is lacking a little base. But for the price and the intend of this system, there is enough base from the sub. Just remember, this type of HTIB system is designed for small living room rather than a decked out home theater in a multi-million dollar home, so don't expect over the top performance. For what it is though, the sound is very clear and video quality is fantastic.

even though the rear speakers weren't totally eireless, it was a lot easier to get rear speaker sound than stringing wires accross a tile floor. would and did recomend to a friend. very pleased with the sound.
What's great about it: sleek design, nice bass sound, overall great sound
What's not so great: thought the rear speakers were totally wireless
I would recommend this to a friend!

struggling with this one. sounds great with dvd. however, not getting 5.1 sound from new samsung cable box, nor from the old scientific atlanta one through hdmi. spent hours on the phone with sony and cable company to no avail, and finally got optical audio cable instead to connect. sounds like 5.1 now, usually, but the display wont verify that, and the manual has a lot of weasel language about it. not convinced. sony - feel free to email me if you have a solution!

Good Product but lot to improve.

Pros:
Sound Quality is good but it doesn't produce enough sound for a 1000W system.
Rear speake quality is also very good.
Easy Set up.
Cons:
Rear speakers are not really wireless. I even called the customer support to enquire about the rear speakers before buying this product, they also said it is wireless. I will be more careful when I buy something from Sony next time.
Rear speakers need to connect to a common amplifier attached to a power source and the wires for the rear speakers are not long enough.
HDMI cable is not included in the package and to me it is totally unacceptable. Also the screws for hanging the speakers on the wall could have been included in the package.
I am giving 3 stars for this product for the sound quality and easy set up.
What's great about it: Easy set up, sound quality is good, sound from rear speakers are aslo crisp and clear.
What's not so great: Rear speakers are not really wireless, The cord for rear speakers are not long enough, HDMI/optical cable not included.

Great HTIB for the price

I was looking for a HTIB with wireless rears. I eval'd both the Samsung HT-F5500 and the LG BH6830 while making my decision. I thought that the Sony had the easiest GUI, easiest set up and looked the sleekest compared with the other two. For the price, they were very comparable so it came down to sound quality and aesthetics.
You cannot go wrong with this set-up. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone looking for a HTIB with wireless rears.

Amazing Sound

Great sound. Music sounds so real now, especially the voices. Movies...unbelievable.
Goes great with my Sony 3D Led TV. If you want cool looks, great sounds and EASE of use, buy this system. Feels like it should cost $1000 instead of just $500
What's great about it: Simple set up, Sound
What's not so great: none so far
I would recommend this to a friend!

Unhelpful Customer Support
on November 12, 2012

Out of the box, the unit caused continual screen flashing when connected with an HDMI input from a cable box. I tried it with a second HDTV in my house and had the exact same problem. Talked at length with Sony customer service, tried all kinds of adjustments to make sure it wasn't a problem on this end, and they agreed to repair the unit... in Laredo, TX. After waiting a month to get the unit back, it was clear no repair had been done, and my problem had been ignored. I hooked it up and experienced the exact same issue. Now, they are telling me the problem must have to do with the software in my TV... BOTH of them!
What's great about it: Wireless rear speakers, good sound on Blu-Rays
What's not so great: Not able to support pass-thru from Cable box

Disappointed

I could write a very well worded review of this product but I simple am too frustrated to spend any more time on this product. Where to start, the sound crackles when louder scenes occur, there is no physical user interface (sure when you press the "button areas" the fancy LED light dims and brightens) but the function doesn't work every time (never had that with hard buttons on a receiver), turning on sometimes doesn't work so you try to reboot only to find out that the function selector somehow change from HDMI1 to another one without you changing it. Boot up time varies and that isn't because I change standby modes. I've left the standby mode the same since purchase and boot up time is all over the map however sometimes I find that is because the unit decided to change functions. There is a hard drive in this unti which means it will only last a few years where as my last home theater is still perfectly fine if the industry hadn't changed interfaces. Convienent.
What's great about it: Still searching for them
What's not so great: Sound crackles, user interface horrible. What happened to buttons
