stopped working after 11 mos

This microwave stopped working after 11 mos - totally dead. Just opened repair ticket - will see how successful or not the under warranty repair process is w/ LG.
Before the product stopped working it operated just fine as a typical microwave.
However there is one very annoying 'feature' - when it gets hot - say, when cooking rice, the VERY LOUD fan will automatically come on and run for 20-30 minutes - so don't plan on having any kitchen conversations, or having a relaxing meal around the time you use the microwave under certain conditions. Have had several microwaves (GE/Whirlpool) over the past 30 years, and never had this issue before - obvious design flaw. Last LG.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this microwave

I really love this microwave, it is so quiet. The slide out vent makes it nice when you are cooking on the front burners of the stove, and with the turbo fan, no smoke stays in the kitchen. Have not found one thing that I don't like about it. Great buy.

Poor design

Bulky design where the height does not might code because the distance between the stove top a microwave needs to be a certain distance. This distance is smaller because of the slide out vent. The microwave control panel is located directly above the stove top and sometimes goes bizerk cause by steam and heat. Prefer the side control panel and a shorter door.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Good and Not So Good

The Good:
Great Microwave w/ lots of features. Our previous microwave had 'Sensor' cooking, which was a 'must have' feature and a strong point for our decision to go w/ the LG LSMH207ST. Love the 400 CFM capacity pull out vent!

The Not So Good:
Only con so far is the interior lighting. I could barely see what was cooking. Not good when heating/warming sauces. I changed out the two 30w bulbs that came with it for 40w bulbs. This helped. Also the two cook-top lights are halogen. I would rather they be a variable LED type lighting. Also, the three buttons dedicated to 'Popcorn', 'Mac&Cheese' and 'Chicken Nuggets' are a big waste of one step functions for us.

to this day i am really impressed with this micro. it's the first over the counter i've owned and i can't believe the ease and usefulness of this product. every time i use it, i never have to worry about anything. it's quiet, good looking, and even has a sensing probe. a great product for your kitchen.

Nice Addition to Kitchen Make-Over

We chose the LG Over-the-range Microwave with the extendable hood for our recent galley-style kitchen make-over. While we had a few installation issues (the contract had not seated the unit correctly to the existing duct work) we are very pleased with its features and performance. While the exhaust (vented to outside) is a little louder than we would prefer, it certainly seems to work well and the timer/turn-off features allows us to leave it running for a pre-set time and leave the room.
The Sensor-Cook/Re-heat features work very well, though I have to admit that most of our microwave 'cooking' is limited to baked potatoes, re-heating left-overs/dinner plates, some packaged rice/pasta dishes, etc. We tend to not use it for preparing main dishes (meats, poultry, fish) but should probably explore those recipes. We particularly like the warming features and the ability to stack (stage) several times/levels to managing slightly more complex tasks though those features are not very well spelled out in the user manual.
Overall, we are very pleased with this unit
