Fit not forgiving; Alternate installation method

The surround is OK, although aesthetically not as pleasing as the frame for the previous models. The problem we encountered was with the installation directions. The instructions have you measure the center of the interior of the cabinet floor and transfer it to the cabinet frame. They assume that the interior measurements of the cabinet are centered with the cabinet opening. Our cabinet was not, and the 1/4 inch difference made installation very tight and difficult.
We suggest that you find the center of the cabinet opening, and transfer that opening to the bottom of the cabinet with a line (regardless of whether it is centered horizontally within the cabinet). Then use the template to determine the correct placement of the slot that anchors the back of the microwave. The rest of the instructions can be followed as given.
This plastic and metal framing cost 75% as much as the microwave. Hardly a bargain, but necessary to complete the built-in look of the appliance, which is why we rate it so low in value.
