I used these older-style grills for many years and loved them. I bought a new one that no longer uses rocks, but has a plate for which drippings smoke off terribly, and the gas regulator doesn't work. Char-Broil customer service was less than helpful. They said they were sending a new gas regulator, and after two-weeks they claimed they sent me an email asking for the receipt, but by the day after, they canceled my request. Not to mention my email was not provided for ads, but for the purpose of the relacement part. The only email I received June 16, was an ad from them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

35 years and still grilling

I found a bottle of gas in my camping gear and couldn’t figure out what is was for. I wanted to grill some brats but didn’t want to break out the big boys for a few brats. I was in the shed looking around and saw the old, and I mean old CharBroil. I dragged it out, cleaned it up a bit, reattached the burner to the bottom of the grill, screwed on the gas bottle and started it up. It lit right up, first try. I set the temp as low as I could and it cooked those brats to perfection. I completely forgot what a wonderful grill this thing is. Must be why I’ve hung onto it for so long. If you’re looking for a inexpensive, lightweight, portable grill that really works great, look no further, this is the one to get. I’m so glad I hung onto it.

I have given this grill an average rating because I never used it, so I don't know if it's good or poor. The problem was that the on-line description of the product said "Assembly -- No," but it arrived needing considerable assembly, including of ignition parts and quite small parts. Being an older person with little patience or skill to assemble such things, I just chalked it up to lesson learned and put it away. Accordingly, I can't really recommend it to anyone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works like a charm. A replacement for my first Char- Broil. First one lasted 15 years, looking forward to another 15 with this one.
Very good price/value for a grill that does exactly what it’s supposed to do, grill your steaks, fish, veggies, kabobs etc. to perfection. When this one wears out in 15 years, I’ll buy another one, highly recommended.

Bought a new one for the simple reason I wore the old one out. Have had this piece for years and wore the burner holes out. Placing a baking tray under the unit relly helps keep everything clean.

Better than I expected. I have not used it yet. I will on my boat on the 4th of July. Only complaint is the ground wire is too short.
