What a difference

My wife and I replaced a 40+ year old GE electric range(that still worked perfectly, but needed an upgrade) with this cooktop, and wow what a difference. It used to take 12 minutes to boil a quart of cold water in a two quart pot and now it only takes 7 minutes. It looks great as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This model replaces a much more expensive GE model that had a stainless frame around it that I thought would prevent another broken cooktop (the edges being particularly vulnerable).
I was wrong...on Christmas day with the dinner prep in full swing, a small bottle of oil fell right on the edge of the ceramic and stainless...CRACK...all the way from top to bottom, right between the burners. The other thing about that model was that it was nearly impossible to clean...three special products, pads, paper towels AND a paint scraper were necessary to clean the unit even after minimal use. This new unit is a salt and pepper finish and can be cleaned with a little Windex and a paper towel...much better!!!

The new cook top definitely heats up faster than my old coil burners.. I've learned that I need to turn the temp down sooner because the burner remains hotter longer if I want to simmer what I'm cooking. The cons of my new black cook top is that even if you only use one burner, you have to clean the whole surface to look "nice". My sauce pans slide around more easily on the surface so no more one handed stirring. I also purchased black liners to put over the surface of the cook top to prevent it from getting scratched. Overall, it performs as advertised.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A PERFECT REPLACEMENT

This replaced an original GE cooktop with the coil burners that lasted 20 years. The glass top acts a little differently but is efficient and consistent.
