I'm using this memory in two PCs now, and it is clearly the best memory I've ever used. Why? That's simple, you just put it in your PC and it works. No need to check the mother boards support or qualified vendor list, it likely won't be there anyway. The latest CPUs and mother boards for PCs have become picky about what memory will work with them, if the mother board manufacture does not say it will work in their product, 99% of the time it won't. That is, until Samsung created this product. It simply works perfectly the first time you put it in your PC, without cross referencing product numbers, memory speeds, or timings. In the PC builder's world, this is unheard of.
Which brings up another great aspect of this memory. Its specs don't look very impressive given what the latest boards will support, it's only rated at 1600. Yet I have it running at 2000 by simply changing the basic speed settings, which you must do manually, but that's easy. The timing settings can be set tighter than the specs state too, it runs a 10 11 11 28 1T at 2000 fine, which is better than the specs at 1600! You might not believe I have 16GB of this memory running at 2000, 9 9 9 24 1T, and frankly I cannot believe it either, but it will.
To top all of this off, this memory runs at these speeds at 1.35V. Yes, 1.35V. I had it set to 1.5V initially, but after how well it worked for me, and seeing 1.35V in its SPD data, I tried it. Sure enough, yet again, it just works at that voltage. If you have experience with PC SRAM memory, you know that is impressive. I truly do not think any other memory will operate at that speed and voltage combination.
Wait, I lied, there is more. This memory has no heat sinks. None, it is just bare chips, and very low profile, less than an inch tall. Sure, not impressive looking like some other memory, but that is all for show, this memory is about working.
But you must have matched sets to do this, right? Wrong, I mixed one 8GB set with two single 4GB DIMMs. I did that twice, on two PCs, with the results I described above. I know, you don't believe it, and I can't really blame you. It really works like this, I promise.
I can only imagine what sorted, hand selected, and matched memory chips that were then assembled into matched memory sets could accomplish in performance. Is this memory old-tech refined as far as it can go? No, it's Samsung's new 30nm process memory. This memory could change the PC memory industry, and will likely be used by the big names in PC memory soon.
If you are looking for high performance memory that you need not fuss over, and won't surprise you with compatibility issues, both physically and electrically, this is what you want. Samsung has made PC memory simple again, without hype or high price.
Pros: Inexpensive, ultra high quality, works well beyond specs, works with any pc, no clearance issues, low power usage, matched sets not needed, low voltage, very low profile, set it and forget it reliability
Cons: your old memory is obsolete
