Fantastic picture quality on color and black and white

I wanted to give myself a Christmas Present. My old projector (another brand with DLP technology) had lasted nine years and had given good service but it was getting tired. I didn't realize the technology had changed so much until I started exploring what was available in my price range. I am so happy that with the assistance of a great,knowledgeable sales person who helped me firm up my decision I went with the Epson 2040. It was in the price range I was interested in and It has exceeded my expectations by far. I just completed adding more screen space to accommodate the 16:9 format (updating from the old 4:3 aspect ratio). My screen is painted on the wall and I am amazed with the bright colors,crisp focus, detail and the depth of black in images. I am looking forward to many years of happy use of this projector. LCD is the way to go.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very good home projector

This projector is more than expected, it is really very good and quite easy to setup and use! Image is excellent and the automatic keystone is great. I think this projector is perfect for my 13 x 17 media room.

Excellent projector on budget, but some caveats

I purchased epson 2040 after checking the online reviews. Straight out of the box , it gave me stellar images on the wall of the size 150 inches easily. Viewing high resolution with chromecast and bluray is incredible. Im giving 3 stars because of these
1. Black levels are not good - contrast is not enough.
2. Fan is VERY noisy, other than eco mode, projector is not usable in home conditions. But 3D requires much brighter images, and brings in lot of noise.

After 2 months of usage , the lamp is giving me some trouble and Im contacting epson for the same.

We were considering buying a 75-80" TV, but after pricing them my husband did some research on projectors and screens. This one got great reviews and was priced competitively. It arrived quickly, and was easy to set up. We use it strictly for watching movies, and this is like having a theater in our living room! We left the TV on by accident one night, and could see by side-by-side comparison that the projector's colors aren't as vibrant, but once the TV is off, no one notices -- the colors look fine. Doesn't seem true hi-def, but that said, the quality is plenty good. We're very happy with the projector.

Great Projector for the value

This is my first projector, easy to setup and a great picture. I have a very dark basement which helps the experience. I'd totally recommend this for anyone on a budget. My screen size is 131" and it is sweet!!!

Bought this for watching movies in basement. We are extremely happy with the purchase. Crystal clear picture quality when projected on a wall. Waiting to project on a screen and enjoy more!!!

Good picture, more difficult to hang and get picture set in middle of screen than my last Epson where it had adjustments to move projected image up/down or Lt/Rt .
