After a long resarch, I bought this system from Defender's website. I was amazed by the quality of the cameras and the DVR. The setup was easy enough for Non-Tech savvy folks. The DVR offers a lot of options to suit any needs. When I had trouble setting up viewing on my I-phone app, Michel from the Technical Support Team was very helpful and very patient walking me through tweaking my PC & router until the app was functioning. Michel also offered tips that I was not aware of. I am very happy with Defender-USA, the product I purchased, and the support team behind it. Thanks again, Michel!

Great System and wonderful support

I've installed 5 of the eight cameras and all worked without a hitch. System was very easy to set up and I am impressed with the quality of the hardware. Pictures are very clear, even at night. To limit recording, I set all cameras to record when motion is detected. Movement of trees and even large bugs at night will trigger the motion, but I don't see any way to avoid that. Besides, there is plenty of room on the dvd. Going back to look at recordings is very easy. I did have a few problems getting access via internet, but I did a live chat with customer service and was connected within 1 minute. Stacey was very knowledgeable and got me up and running within minutes. I would highly recommend this system.

Simple install - Easy to monitor

Installed this on a home installation. The hardest part was running the lines to the cameras inside the tight attic spaces. The hookup to the DVR as well as the online app was effortless. It was up and operational in a matter of minutes.
If you are wondering if the night vision cameras are worth the extra cost, they are!

Love the system

I purchased this on Oct 27, 2015. Waited to review until I actually used the system to see how it worked.
The most time consuming part of installing the cameras was to dig trenches and put the wire inside piping. Once all the prep work was done, the rest of the system was super easy to hook up, actually pretty user friendly. The cameras have a nice wide view, very clear, very sturdy heavy duty, but when pitch black outside, really can't see all that much. If you have an outside light on, then the visual is pretty good. I put my cameras on motion, then I receive email updates every 10 minutes. I would rather have it notify me only when the motion is set off and not at 10 minute intervals. I had a few questions while I was trying to set up my email and the customer service is excellent and very helpful. I am so glad that I purchased this system, love it!!

So far disappointed. 2 of 4 cameras are defective (no color from cameras) and I had to pay to ship them back in order to get replacements.

System OK

I received my Defender 21159 four camera system on 8/8/14. I tested the system and found one camera did not work. I immediately contacted CWD, the distrtbutetor for Defender. I was told that the quickest way to get a replacement was to buy one and send the defective one back for a refund. That took more than a month, very poor customer service.

Picture is great but I can not view online

After receiving cameras we tested them all out to make sure they worked and then installed them all very easily. It was very nice to have extra long cables so there was no extra expense. The picture is great but we can not view it online. I had a local professional come to set up the online viewing but he worked on it all day but was unable to get it to work. The 1Step application does not work and he even tried other online viewing applications but none would work with the DVR. Unhappy with the branding and compatibility of the DVR.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dead DVR?

I bought the unit at Walmart (DEFENDER Sentinel Pro Widescreen 8CH Security DVR with 2TB Storage and 8 Surveillance 800TVL Cameras with 150ft Night Vision) and picked it up October 10. I hooked up all 8 cameras to the DVR and tested the system - all was good, including the remote access. I then unplugged everything and shut the system down, then unplugged the DVR. I then proceeded laying the cables in the attic. I had to wait until extension cables arrived to complete the installation. After almost 4 weeks (with other projects interfering with the installation) I hooked up all cables and plugged in the DVR but no lights came on. This was on a Friday night which means I had no one to talk to from Defender.
I will update (provided the website lets me) as soon as the situation is resolved. But so far, all I see is the infrared lights glowing on the cameras.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
