Body of the binoculars are disintegrating/melting

I have had these binoculars for a few years. Initially very satisfied, but after a couple of years the rubber exterior of the body of the binoculars became very sticky and literally began rubbing off on my hands. I have tried various cleansers, even acetone to see if I could remove the stickiness to no avail.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing binoculars

Amazing binoculars. I have a condition that causes me to shake, the image Stabilizing allows me to bird watch again. I wear glasses and rolling the eye cups back allow full view with my glasses on. Highly recommend these!

I like the binoculars

i have owned this model for over ten years with no problems up until recently the rubber casing has become sticky and appears to be disintegrating for no apparent reason. they still work well though. I will buy another pair eventually and hope that Canon fixes the problem with the rubberized casing.

Hand grip material becomes annoyingly sticky within a short time

As others have noted, I too experienced a transformation of the outer material of the binocular into a very sticky mess. I purchased and placed a material that was advertised to help people hold their hand guns more securely. It isn't pretty, but it seems to work. But at the price for this item, it should never happen at all.

To be perfectly honest, I have not had them long enough to experience the other reviewer concerns regarding the surface imperfections. But I could honestly say that these are the best binoculars I have ever purchased as far as the stability and quality for what I purchased them for. If I would recommend anything right now which is not a show stopper would be to allow the stabilization to stay on without pressing the button. If the button was just the on/off switch would be absolutely perfect.
