VERY disappointed

I was very excited to be receiving my Keurig Kold. When it arrived I immediately unpacked it and plugged it in. It took MORE THAN 12 hours before it stopped humming/cooling. I then primed the machine and again it took a while to be "ready" again. I then attempted to make a lemon fizzy drink. The taste was off (tasted like plastic), and again it took a while for the loud humming to stop. Even when it was "set" the machine makes a noise (Keurig claims "like a refrigerator", but I say it is much louder than that). I was not happy with this product and have since returned it. I don't think it is "ready for prime time" yet.
Cons: Off Taste Products, Slow, Loud
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Where is my sample?

My husband has been waiting anxiously for this. I surprised him today with it. We open the box, follow the directions for initial use and search the box for at least 1 sample pod. No pod but 2 glasses. So disappointing. We got in the car at 8:30 to go purchase some. Unfortunately no seltzer available and far more expensive than expected. $1.25 plus tax per 8oz glass. I don't think the small pod availability is ready for a launch of the Kold brewer. We are huge Keurig fans but this very expensive refrigerator is disappointing. We trust Keurig will add more pod selections soon and at a more reasonable price.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Beautiful Machine
Cons: Added Electric Cost, No Sample Pod, High Cost Pods, Constant Hum, Need More Flavors
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not sure what the case for purchasing this product would be

I wish I could figure out the case for buying, using and keeping this product, but it just isn't there for me at the moment. Here's a breakdown of my thoughts: Size: This thing is a behemoth. My kitchen is tiny compared to most gigantor American homes. Counter space is hard to come by and I can't imagine where this machine will live permanently. Noise: As others have mentioned, when you first set up the machine, it is incredibly noisy. Even when it is idle, it still makes a significant amount of noise. Cost: The cost of the machine would make most people's eyes pop out, but when you add in the cost of the pods, it just doesn't make financial sense. A pack of four pods goes for $4.99. Do you know how many cans of soda you can buy at the grocery store for that amount? Also, each serving is 8 oz. Cans of soda are 12 oz. Add to that the costs of plugging in a machine around the clock that uses the same amount of electricity as a mini-fridge. Ease of use: I have found the machine to be pretty easy to set up and use, but I have managed to be one of "those people," who has forgotten to take the seal off of the bottom of the pod before putting it in the machine and wasted one pod ($1.25) so far. Taste: I have been disappointed with the taste of Dr. Pepper and Coca-Cola so far. They taste far different from what I except from these sodas. If I am purchasing an item that is called "Dr. Pepper" or "Coca-Cola," I expect it to taste exactly like that product. The pods don't even remotely taste like them. Overall, the novelty of owning this machine is overcome by its impracticality. The formulas also need improvement.
Pros: Ease of use
Cons: Noise, Cost, Size, Taste
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A cold counterpart to your coffee maker

To start off, the Keurig Kold does exactly what you'd expect a Keurig to do. Pod goes in, drink comes out. And it does that quite well! When I first opened the box, I was surprised by the larger size. When I put our older Keurig (Hot) next to it, the size difference became a little bit clearer - I would say it has about the same width, but a little less than twice the depth. So for some countertops, you won't be able to put very much in front of the Kold even when you aren't using it. It does make sense to me that the Kold is bigger, in any case, because it takes a lot more work to chill something than it does to heat something. So be aware of the counter space for this beast. Using the Kold is extremely simple, especially if you have used a Keurig coffee maker before. Just plug it in, wait 2 hours (so the chillers can "charge up" so to speak), put in a drink pod and hit go. One thing that caught us at least once is that there is a foil liner on the bottom of the pods that must be removed before making your drink, or you get no flavoring - only carbonation. It's not much of an extra step to get used to, though. Unlike the coffee makers, this can only make a certain number of cold drinks in a row before it needs to "recharge", and the only time the Kold makes a noticeable droning noise is when it is recharging. The instructions say you can fill the water reservoir with ice to pre-chill the water and put less strain on the Kold's chiller, so you can get through more drinks without being forced to wait, but we never had to deal with this issue. One other note: It has to remain plugged in at all times, unless you want to go through the 2-hour-wait part of the process again. There is no on/off switch. The only button on this device is the "make me a drink" button. The drinks it makes actually taste very good and are well carbonated, especially considering there is no CO2 canister for carbonation. I will say that the name-brand drinks like Coke don't taste 100% like their canned or bottled counterparts, but come surprisingly close in my opinion - my wife thinks they taste very different and is not a fan. It will definitely vary from person to person. My favorites have been the off-brand sugar cane sodas. While the price of the Keurig Kold seems quite high, the biggest drawback to the Kold for me is actually the price of the drink pods, which comes out to about $1.25 per pod, and each pod makes 8 fl oz of cold drink - smaller than a can of soda. I remember that the Keurig coffee makers achieved the popularity they did because third party coffee makers were able to make and sell pods at much cheaper prices, and there was also the option of using your own coffee grounds with a recyclable pod. The Keurig Kold needs such lower-cost third party vendors to come in at lower prices to really succeed, but because of their (proprietary?) carbonation bead technology, I don't know how readily this will happen. When the price of these pods comes closer to the price of soda from a store, I will be much more excited about the product. Another note about the pods is their size. One 8 fl oz can of Coke (what the Keurig Kold produces as one beverage) takes up less space than two of the Coca-Cola pods stacked together. That means, to me, that while there is a space-saving advantage in the Keurig Kold over having a closet full of soda cans and an ice maker, it isn't very much of an advantage. Also, even though the ability of the Kold to carbonate beverages is heavily advertised, there are also non-carbonated beverages like iced teas and sports drinks. Interestingly enough, even with the smaller pods and the lack of carbonation beads, these cost about the same as the name-brand drink pods, which is surprising to me. To summarize, I honestly think that the Keurig Kold is a good product for what it does - it makes cold carbonated (and non-carbonated) drinks on demand, without any need for a separate refrigerator or ice maker. I see this product really shining in an office or work space, where maybe you want more variety in drinks without having to take up refrigerator space. Its size can be a turn-off, as can the price. The biggest drawback in my opinion is currently the price of the drink pods. If those get cheaper, this could be a better product, but at the moment this product has enough negatives that I don't think I will be recommending the Keurig Kold to many people. Disclaimer: I received this product in exchange for my unbiased review.
Pros: Makes Cold Drinks Quickly, No Co2 Tank Required
Cons: Large Footprint, Drink Pod Cost, Can't Turn Off
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was excited to recieve the Kold. I set it up as soon as I saw it had arrived. I had never even considered getting a soda maker, so I was excited to try it. Now that it's setup I'm using it daily to try the various flavors. But I'm not sure that I'll run out and buy more when I'm done with my current vareity. It's so large I don't image I'll be keeping it on my counter for an extended period of time. There are some pros and cons to it. I think it would be fun to have on hand for a family function or party so everyone could make their own drinks. CONS - Price - for the machine and the pods I'd be better off buying a boatload of pop and flavored water. I don't see that it's cost effictive if you're trying to save money. - Size - this thing is an absolute monster. I already strugle with counter space. It's huge and very deep. There's no where in my kitchen to tuck it away, so it's always going to be on the counter. - Setup - this is not grab and go. You do need to wait at least two hours when you plug it in for it to cool. It sounds like a freight train in my kitchen while it's cooling down during that two hour period. After that it's a very low hum. But to start with it was pretty annoying and we could hear it in the other rooms of our house. - 8 oz is your only option. At least opening a bottle of pop, I can decide how much I want. 8 oz. is the only choice, no more, no less. PROS - Variety of flavors. I love all the options to choose from. From flavored water to cane soda to Coke products, there are many options. - The Coke really does taste like Coke. - Ease of use. It's as simple as using a Keurig coffee maker.
Pros: Coke Tastes Like Coke, Ease of use, Make A Variety Of Drinks
Cons: Expensive Pods, Expensive Drinkmaker, Very Large Unit

The drinks are delicious!

The whole family loved the novelty of this item. We loved making our own drinks and choosing our own drinks. Having a Keurig coffee maker where there is nothing to remove on the coffee pod made it hard to remember to remove the seal on the cold pods; several were wasted because of that. We all wish the unit was smaller and worked faster. We are grateful to have received it and I hate to write anything negative but I am giving an honest review.
Pros: The Temp Is Just Right, Love The Go Cup, Love The Glassware, The Drinks Are Delicious
Cons: Initial Setup Is Too Long, Takes up too much space, Each Pod Is Costly, Costly
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Impractical and does not produce quality beverages

I bought this product for my husband for Christmas, and he tried the Coke beverage, and it was not good at all. He tried a second one to make sure it wasn't a "first time use" flaw, and the second was equally as bad. Further, this product is very large and takes up a lot of space, and must be "On" constantly.
Cons: Too Big, Beverages Are Not Good, Runs Constantly
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Few Simple Things

One of the things you'll notice when using the KOLD is just how big the machine really is. The pods are bigger, it just takes a lot of space. You can only fit 4 pods into a box for sale as well. What I like about it is the fact that if your having a party, you can do cocktail mixers, do multiple drinks in a row, have fun with your beverage options. Remember when you use the machine to not unplug unless you really have to because the 2 hour wait time for it to chill is actually longer than that. Also, making sure to keep the machine 2 inches away from the wall or other appliances so it doesn't overheat.
Pros: Multiple Drinks And Fast, Beverage Options
Cons: Machine Is Really Big, Pods Are Too Big, Chill Time Isn't 2 Hours
