I also have a Sony A7R with LCS-ELCA case. Bought this new case for an A7M2 since the earlier case is incompatible. I was pleasantly surprised with the changes. First, the lower case now has a hinged door allowing you to change batteries without removing the case and the screw which affixes the case to the body is recessed with a very easy to tighten / loosen screw. This means that the camera with lower case sits flat on a table (or ship's railing) for greater stability and can be mounted more securely on a tripod without removing the case should you wish. The upper case is a bit more difficult to mount/dismount (and is larger) but is more enveloping; providing even better protection. It is larger in diameter around the lens and will accommodate the FE 16-35mm f4 lens with lens hood reversed. I think this case will provide excellent protection for travel and I have rated it a 4 star as it is more awkward to mount/dismount the cover. I generally only use the lower case when shooting and will often use a medium sized holster style bag for daily shooting with spare batteries. I will leave the lower case on permanently except to mount an L-bracket for pano work.
