I got this because I'm going solar & my old upright fridge was an energy hog. I'm actually using it as a refrigerator rather than a freezer. I had to get a Johnson Controls thermostat so it would only cool to the refrigerator temperature range with the temperature sensing capillary passing into the chest between the upper lip of the chest & the lid. Used as a refrigerator it is incredibly energy efficient. I attached it to my watt meter for a day & found that the average power draw over a 24 hour period was only 8 watts. That translates into just 70 kWh per year. Aside from my non-standard usage, I find it to be a well made freezer. I'm very pleased with it.
