Great stovetop

I used my cooktop today for first time. Easy to operate. Clean lines. No knobs. I love love love my new GE 36” Profile electric cooktop.

New model replacement

I replaced my GE 2007 model with this one. There are changes with this newer model. Two burners, located on the left side of the cooktop, are very close together so both can be turned on to accommodate a grill style pan. 2 grill pans are available for purchase on the website. I did not purchase either due to reviews and safety. Unfortunately, I already have a vertical feathered scratch on the power boil burner. I am unsure how that happened. I have the same cookware and try to be very careful bc glass can scratch. I use the Weiman cleaner and polish sparingly due to my chemical sensitivity. I am thankful the large multi-size burner in the middle remained. The digital controls for controlling each burner with your finger is very different and I do not know if there is an option to mute the sound. The "warming burner" can get hot enough to boil water in our tea kettle-that was a nice surprise! Our countertop did not need any adjustments due to size, except for our drawer underneath for opening and closing. An exact model also comes with a stainless steel rim along the edge.

Great Cooktop (cleaning tip!)

We have been using the cooktop for about a month now. Love the sleek look, no knob controls that make cleaning so much easier, adjustable burner sizes & griddle size burner, and the built-in timer feature that we use all the time for cooking pasta and rice. Initially, I was in complete agreement with the other reviewers/reviews about their disappointment with the difficulty in keeping the glass top clean and cooking splashes/spots not coming off - even with timely and vigorous cleaning. We were experiencing these same issues and with the same frustration & disappointment. It was so bad I even checked these reviews to see it was just us or if others were having these same issues and whether there were any tips and tricks to resolving. I even re-read the user's manual for cooktop cleaning - which said to use the sample "Cerama Brite" cooktop cleaner (with scrubber and scraper) that came with the cooktop before initial use which will aid in keeping the cooktop clean - we failed to do this! However, once we started using the sample "Cerama Brite" cooktop cleaner and scrub pad, the spots that wouldn't come off simply disappeared. REALLY. My husband and I were both stunned at what a difference this product made in the ease of cleaning the cooktop and in keeping it clean. So if you are having these same problems - use the "Cerama Brite" sample!!! Without Cerama Brite, I would give this cooktop 2 stars. Now that we discovered this cleaning trick - it now gets 5 stars!

Glass cook top very fragile

I bought this 2 months ago, and it is not the quality I expected. I see that it has great reviews, but that has not been my experience. I use this almost daily and after each use we clean and polish it once it cools down. I used one of the smaller burners for the first time today, and the glass has a burnt mark on it. I purchased a smooth surface cooktop over 15 years ago and was very happy with it. Actually still own it and never have had a problem with it burning through the glass. The stove that came with our home was a smooth surface cooktop also and it was 10 years old and the top of it looked better than the brand new cooktop. I am very disappointed with this product and would not recommend it.

Stay away from this cooktop

We bought this cooktop as a replacement for an older GE cooktop. We have had nothing but trouble with this cooktop and after many service calls and replacement of the main board, we are still having issues with 30 minutes or so into cooking, the cooktop just shuts all of the burners off and the warm burner indicators are illuminated. Sometimes we have to reset the house breaker in order to turn it back on to continue cooking. We are so disappointed and are at our wits end with GE.

Bad choice !!!!!

I hate this cook top we just remodeled our kitchen and went w this because it was GE along w all of our other appliances ! It shuts off on me all the time in the middle of cooking ! Won't turn back on!! To clean it is absolutely impossible constant marks the glass on the middle burner it has chips and no clue of how this happened !! if I was to go w GE again I would get the cooktop that is grey in color to hide streaks and water marks that don't come off !!

Scratches easily

This cooktop heats up fast and evenly. But, very disappointed at how easily the surface scratches. I had my previous cooktop for 18 years and never had a scratch. I had this a month and had a deep scratch that will be permanent.
