Good cooktop

I bought this cooktop about 5 months ago and here are my observations. Cooktop heats us quickly and evenly. I really like that you can select/adjust the pot size on various elements. I bought this cooktop because it had the largest area for a big pot, measures a little over 11 inches wide, and the controls are inbedded into the unit (no knobs). However, the placement of the largest burner at the back of the cooktop makes it less than an ideal location. Placement in the front would have been much better. I've purchased GE cooktops for various homes, (we move a lot) and would definitely purchase one again. However, I've noticed that this cooktop scratches more easily than GE products that I've had in the past. I know you have to lift a pot and not drag it, and I'm careful when placing pots on the cooktop. However, in less than six months I have about 4 scratches that won't come out. But even with this issue I would purchase this cooktop again because of the large burner size. I do have a recommendation for the designers. My previous cooktop had the controls running on the side and the burners were easier to access. I looked at all your cooktops and this design is no longer available. For people who cook a lot easy access to the pots in more important than controls in the front. At least in my opinion

Wanted basic got basic

Bought this cooktop a few months ago. You can't use cast iron cookware with it - did not catch this in the literature or reviews I read. Learned this in the info that came with the unit. Spots show easily on dark black glass, labels difficult to see without a light on. Cleans up fine with some effort.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the touch based controls

The touch based controls is what drew me to this product. Very responsive and makes it really easy to clean. There is a safety to lock the buttons. It is large and has many features such as warming zones and power boil. I recommend the product. Been using it for several months. It makes cooking a breeze.

Clean and Sleek!

I am really loving this cooktop! I purchased it when my (15-year-old) GE Profile cooktop started malfunctioning. The previous cooktop had knobs, which became gunky from food and grease. This cooktop has no knobs, so no gunky food is lurking around. The control panel can be a bit hard to see, so it helps to have an overhead light if you need better illumination. I like the push and (circular) swipe motion to turn the burners on and adjust the temperature. I also like having the handy timer right in front of me, although it is not very loud once it goes off. It's a good idea to use the LOCK feature when you are not cooking, to prevent any accidents. It's simple--just hold down the LOCK button for 3 seconds to lock and unlock. I definitely recommend this unit.

Surface scratches too easy

I love the "power" eye and the varying sizes on each eye that allow you to only heat the surface directly under the pot/pan you are using.
