It could blow cold but something is is telling it not to. Less than a year in operation.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The compressor runs even when the unit is off. No replacement parts are available.

Great at Cooling the Living Room

This a/c is great at cooling the living room and the dining room and it is also quiet at low fan speed. The only thing I don't like about the a/c is that it drips a lot of water in the back. I have to put a bucket down to catch the water leaking from the a/c. Within two hours, the a/c drips almost a gallon of water. The a/c repair man said this is normal with the new energy star a/c. I would have given this 5 stars if not for the dripping water.

1st new AC in 14 years

I have never bought a LG product before, and didnt know anyone who had. So i was a bit concerned. But due to its low price as compared to other AC units of the same BTU range I decided to make a go of it.
Im quiet glad i did. Not only is the price a great selling point but the Unit keeps my whole living and dinning room cool even on the hottest days so far this summer.
I bought the 18,000 Btu AC because I intended to use a fan to blow cool air into the kitchen area, which is not open to direct flow from the unit. The area im cooling in the 2 rooms is 600 square feet and this unit is doing admirably well.
Im quiet glad i did. Not only is the price a great selling point but the Unit keeps my whole living and dinning room cool even on the hottest days so far this summer.

the ac is great

I installed on 7/30/15 the house is a 1100 square ft home. Its in the living room cools the area great. Only thing is if front grill is not on right it will cause the fan on high speed to make a noise, just re-install front grill correct and the noise is gone. Also wish there was a wire grill on back side of ac unit to protect fins. Cool great I will by another one in the future.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] poor quality control, parts are not checked for fit, front grille assembly does not stay on steel box housing, keeps popping off, had to use tape to keep it in place
