This is my third (3rd) replacement tea kettle in five (5) years...and the quality seems to be degrading with each originally (and highly) anticipated purchase. Initially, I thought it to be the water quality until the rust became extreme and started the process of metal rot not common to high-quality CRES. The next one worked as advertised until the bottom half of the "whistle" sub-assembly rotted off and exposed and exposed the three-point auto-weld deterioration. Without the "whistle" function the entire "notification function" was useless requiring me to stand at the stovetop until the water was steaming heavily and with great force as pressured steam is want to do. This must be the last.

I frequently drink coffee - about 4-5 cups a day. When I used a saucepan to heat the water I had to keep checking to see if was boiling. Now the whistle lets me know.
Pros: Boils Quickly, Clear Boiling Indicator, Tight Lid
Cons: The opening mechanism is a little hard for me.

Lid is so tight it is hard to get open. Because it is hard to open, you need to angle the kettle in a dangerous angle to get the water out, thereby getting hot steam to blow on your hand holding the handle.

This Farberware Sonoma whistling teapot replaced my ancient Farberware whistling teapot that you could only load through the spout. I was looking for one that I could get inside to wash, and this one fills the bill perfectly. Because of that lid, however, the handle is taller and not quite as easy to pour as my old one, but worth the trade-off. I love the stainless steel construction and the location of the spout being high enough to avoid sputtering leaks.
